The Information Commissioner dedicated European Personal Data Protection Day this year to the challenges the EU Reform on Data Protection brings for data controllers, as well as data subjects.
At the workshop titled “Data subjects’ rights and personal data controllers’ obligations according to the new European General Data Protection Regulation” the Information Commissioner, together with representatives of data controllers, the competent ministry and various personal data protection experts, opened a debate on tasks and preparations for implementing the new regulation in 2017.
On this occasion, the Information Commissioner has granted good practice in personal data protection awards.
Company TIBOPO d.o.o. was awarded Privacy Ambassador for 2016 for its approach to the mDrive system for improving traffic safety, as it implemented a Personal Data Protection Impact Assessment in the earliest stage od the project. The award for good practice in personal data protection in private sector was granted to Elektro Ljubljana d.o.o., while the award in public sector was granted to primary school Ivan Skvarča Zagorje ob Savi (PODKUM affiliate). The school was granted best privacy and personal data protection lesson in the competition Information Commissioner organized within the European project ARCADES. Teaching personal data protection and privacy online already with younger children is an example of excellent practice.
