Activities in 2010
- June 25th to 26th 2010, Corfu, Greece - state supervisers Klemen Mišič attended international seminar on information law, where he gave a presentation titled You want even more Personal Data? Are you kidding? Link on conference's homepage: http://conferences.ionio.gr/isil2010/.
- June 22nd 2010, Brussels, Belgium – Andrej Tomšič, M.Sc., Deputy of the Information Commissioner, presented some aspects of data and privacy protection in building modern intelligent transport solutions in the international conference on intelligent transport systems ITS Conference 2010.
- May 18th to 19th 2010, Sopot, Poland - 12th Meeting of Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Commissioners. The meeting was attended by state superviser Milena Podjed Fabjančič and researcher Tina Kraigher; they also gave a presentation titled "Processing of Telephone Traffic Data of Employees", which is available here. The news about the meeting was also published on the Central and Eastern Europe Data Protection Authorities website.
- May 7th 2010, Vienna, Austria - state superviser Tanja Slak and researcher Nina Komočar attended a symposium titled Strengthening the fundamental rights architecture in the EU, organised by the European Agency for Fundamental Rights (http://fra.europa.eu/).
- April 29th to 30th 2010, Prague, Czech Republic - European Conference of Data Protection Commissioners was attended by the two IC Deputies - Rosana Lemut Strle, LL.M., and Andrej Tomšič, M.Sc., the latter contributed with a presentation titled »Road user charging and the old battle between privacy, economics and functionality«. The Information Commissioner also sponsored a panel on ethic profiling.
- April 15th to 16th 2010, Granada, Spain - The meeting of the International Working Group On Data Protection In Telecomunications (IWGDPT) was attended by Andrej Tomšič, M.Sc., Deputy of the Information Commissioner.
- April 12th to 13th, Oxford, UK - 4th Privacy Open Space conference was attended by researchers Eva Kalan and Polona Tepina who will also gave a presentation on Privacy protection and Digital TV and Potential privacy risks of RFID (loyalty, credit, debit) cards.
- March 25th to 27th Turin, Italy - Kick-off meeting of the LAPSI Project (Legal Aspects of Public Sector Information) on re-use of public sector information, in which the Commissioner partakes in as a partner, a member of the consortium. At the same time EVPSI (Extracting Value From Public Sector Information) conference took place where the Commissioner's Deputy Kristina Kotnik Šumah gave a presentation on the re-use of public sector information in Slovenia (her presentation is here). Both events were attended by Commissioner's advisors Jasna Rupnik and Maja Lubarda and researcher Polona Tepina.
- March 18th to 19th 2010, Brussels, Belgium - 21st Case Handling Workshop was attended by state supervisors Sandra Vesel and Jernej Dirnbek who gave a presentation on "Electronic Ticketing in Public Transport of Ljubljana centre buses" (the Urbana card). - January 29th to 30th 2010, Brussels, Belgium - 3rd International Conference Computers, Privacy and Data Protection - CPDP2010. Slovenian Information Commissioner Ms Nataša Pirc Musar attended the Conference as a speaker in the panel “What was on the national data protection agenda in 2009?”. - January 19th to 21st 2010, Hague, Netherlands - as a member of international inspections team the Commissioner's Deputy Andrej Tomšič, M.Sc., cooperated in inspection procedure of the European Union’s Judicial Cooperation Unit (EUROJUST).
- January 4th to 5th 2010, Hong Kong, China - 3rd International Conference on Ethics and Policy of Biometrics and International Data Sharing (link to the website). The speaker at the Conference was also Slovene Information Commissioner, Nataša Pirc Musar. Her Power Point presentation is available here.
Planned events in 2010
- October 7th to 8th 2010, Lueven, Belgium – within the framework of LAPSI project university in Lueven will host two thematic seminars; one on Privacy Aspects of PSI between Private and Public law and the other on Constitutional, Human Rights and Environmental Perspectives. Thematic seminars will be attended by representatives of the Commissioner, who is an official partner of the LAPSI project.
